Latest Updates from Our Project:

We Need Backup!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Nov 21, 2018 at 12:08:05 AM

Global Gladiators, we keep rocking and rolling! We’re well over 2000 backers at the moment, and we’re getting stronger with each passing minute! A testament to everyone’s hard work in sharing the campaign, and how great Street Masters is!

Of course, since another day has gone by, that means we’ve unlocked MORE content to add to your Aftershock Stretch Goals Box! This Kickstarter is on fire and nothing can put it out!

Let’s dive into all the new stuff.

Sin-D

You've unlocked Cybertooth Crew's beautiful bruiser, Sin-D!

If it wasn’t for The Maw, Cybertooth Crew never would have been able to recruit Sin-D, who never cared a lick about computers, viruses, cybercrime, or anything involving the web. What she
did care about was pushing herself to the limit in street fights to prove she was the toughest around. The only thing she loved more than a good scrap was a good challenge, yet even after rising to the top of every underground fight circuit in town, she couldn’t find an opponent worthy of her talents. Enter Cybertooth Crew, whose invite to The Maw proved to be what she’d been looking for. Inside its digital arena, Sin-D faced all sorts of cyber-abominations that kept her on her toes. Since that moment, she’s been hooked on jacking in and seeing how long she can withstand in the Crew’s custom endurance matches. Their leader, Miss Matrix, has even created challenges that Sin-D has yet to overcome, and a mutual respect has grown between both as a result. In fact, some would call it a deep love. Now, Sin-D is a devoted Cybertooth, and some suspect she is the only one who knows the true identity of the enigmatic Miss Matrix.

Good luck wrestling that information out of her, though ...

Tiger Azules Hero Story Deck

Wow, can you believe it? Our third social stretch goal has been unlocked thanks to all our new followers! Tiger Azules’ Hero Story deck is now yours.

Twins Javier and Francisco Del Rio were orphaned as children when their archaeologist parents disappeared during an expedition. They inherited their estate and all its assets, which was regulated by their uncle and guardian Dante until they came of age. As an adult, Javier used his part of the inheritance to start a successful import/export business in Mexico City and used the profits to aid the community. Francisco, on the other hand, struggled to find his place in the world and spent his wealth on frivolous things and cheap thrills, eventually running afoul of local crime bosses. To appease them, he often used the wrestling skills he learned in school to participate in fixed underground lucha libre matches.

One day, Javier was kidnapped during a charity event he was hosting. With the help of local law enforcement, Francisco discovered his uncle Dante was behind it all, and learned which warehouse he was hiding out in. Frustrated with how slow the police was to authorize and plan a rescue, Francisco took matters into his own hands. He raided the family home to try and find his father's old pistol, but to no avail. He did, however, find his mother's secret safe. Inside was a useful artifact: an ancient, ceremonial tiger mask. He could use it to hide his identity; vigilante justice was frowned upon, after all. He donned the mask … and suddenly felt a surge of energy course through his body as it came alive and wrapped around his head. His muscle mass increased before his eyes, and he felt stronger, faster, and more determined than ever.

He infiltrated the warehouse alone, silently dispatching guards as he went, and eventually found Dante holding a gun to Javier's head. Their uncle was stating how he wanted to use the business to run a drug ring and how he deserved it — and their inheritance — for having thanklessly watched over them their whole lives. Francisco leaped out from the shadows, tearing through several guards and taking Dante by surprise. Javier told him to watch out, but it was too late: as Francisco slammed into his uncle, his gun fired and ignited several explosive barrels nearby. An explosion blew the room and floor apart; Dante plummeted to his death and the twins were thrown across the room. As he stood up, Francisco was too dazed to notice the fiery beam plunging towards him. Javier pushed him away just in time, but was crushed in the process. In his dying breath, Javier instructed Francisco to assume his identity to protect his business and their name, and to watch over the community as he had done.

Francisco has been “Javier” ever since, running Del Rio Imports during the day, and donning the mask of Tiger Azules at night to strike fear into the hearts of criminals. It isn't charity work, but it helps the community just as much, if not more. Besides, he's powerless to resist the allure of the mask; it calls to him, and the power it instills in him makes him feel alive. Nothing that does that can be bad ... right?

Miss Matrix + Cybertooth Crew Enemy Deck

Unbelievable! We’ve just completed our fourth bonus enemy faction for this Kickstarter campaign! We are jumping for joy over here, Global Gladiators, and we hope you are too: you’ve unlocked Miss Matrix and Cyberbooth Crew! She comes with her highly detailed miniature, an enemy deck, and extras minis for Pux, Lola, and Sin-D, her minions! Oh, and she is the 10th boss in the Redemption II add-on, just in case you were wondering!

Miss Matrix is an urban legend. Whispers of the legendary hacker dominate every corner of the web, and the streets of Ransom City cower at the mere mention of her name. While no one outside her gang, Cybertooth Crew, has ever laid eyes on her in the flesh (no one left alive, at least), many claim to have crossed her path in The Maw, the infamous cyber-playground she created. While such claims remain unproven, what
is proven is that all the souls who have attempted to hack her have met tragic ends. Her Crew like to tell naysayers she is just as much a physical threat as she is a digital one, and these victims seem to corroborate the claim.

With The Kingdom’s rise resulting in chaos on a global scale, Cybertooth Crew-related attacks, both online and in "RL", have been on the rise. Clearly, Miss Matrix has seen an opportunity to expand both her digital and physical empires, taking advantage of weakened infrastructures to collect data and physical goods to finance her lofty ambitions. The Maw has therefore grown exponentially in a very short time, absorbing other web entities and claiming foreign server space in the blink of an eye. The world’s most brilliant computer scientists have been unable to stop its spread, and have been stumped by its complexities. While they disagree whether it's possible for a single individual to do something of this magnitude without the help of a powerful, advanced A.I, they do agree that if Miss Matrix's code isn't cracked soon, there won't be any stopping it.

Reborn and Ready to Take Down Miss Matrix
over 5 years ago – Wed, Nov 21, 2018 at 12:08:03 AM

Global Gladiators, the final push begins! We've come a long way since launch, with an incredible 46 unlocked stretch goals added to your Aftershock Stretch Goals Box since! We've got more to add, so we need everyone's help to share the campaign with friends; let's plow through the next two days with fervor!

In the meantime, let's see what's been unlocked since the last update!

Pounding Pavement + All the Rave Stages

Get ready for your own private tour of Ransom City’s Neon Strip, because you’ve unlocked two new exciting stages: Pounding Pavement and All the Rave!

Pounding Pavement

In Pounding Pavement, you’ll be cleaning up the streets in front of some of the hottest night spots in the district! You can’t let your enemies get away with trashing such a popular destination, after all! Every business, phone booth, fire hydrant and parked vehicle is counting on you! Just don’t play in the street too long; at this time of night, there’s a lot of traffic up and down the boulevard!

All the Rave
Ask anyone and they’ll tell you the Neon Strip is home to some of the best night clubs in the country, always full to capacity and featuring some of the best DJs in the northern hemisphere! It’s no wonder your enemies see it as a target ripe for the picking! It’s up to you to hit the dance floor and stop them from ruining everyone’s night!

Renae Benson

Looks like everyone’s favorite tech cop is back in action: you’ve unlocked Renae as a new fighter, complete with a highly detailed miniature, a Fighter Deck and a Hero Story Deck!

Renae’s come a long way since her days of simply being known as the Brook City Police Department’s “computer whiz kid”. She’s now a seasoned, well-rounded veteran on the force. She takes to fieldwork a lot more and, under Fulton’s tutelage, has mastered how to deal with unpredictable situations. She’s developed a knack for Kung Fu, thanks to multiple sparring sessions with Lu. She’s even become one of the force’s best shots after countless hours at the firing range with Gonzalez and Jones. Yet, even with all her newfound skills, she’s still a tech at heart. She’s now in charge of the recently created Cyber Crimes Unit (CCU), leading a slew of fresh faces who are eager to stamp out crime on the digital frontier. Unfortunately, this new position led to the event that forever changed Renae’s life.

A few months ago, an unprecedented computer virus attacked and destabilized City Hall’s mainframe, propagating itself throughout the rest of the city’s network and causing widespread chaos. Utilities were shut down, traffic systems obliterated, and many governmental and financial institutions were crippled. Renae and her team worked tirelessly to find the source, and eventually confirmed Miss Matrix’s signature in one of the affected servers. However, this inspection triggered a trap that led to a more powerful version of the virus gaining access to the CCU’s mainframe. Server after server began showing signs of infection, and Renae had no choice but to run to the server room itself to try and shut the power down. As she arrived, however, the virus’ secondary protocol kicked in: it disabled the charging regulators on the backup devices in the server room, allowing their lead-acid batteries to overcharge and produce a small amount of hydrogen. Unfortunately for Renae, it was enough to cause a deadly explosion when one of the overheated servers sparked.

Renae woke up in St. Thomas Hospital, happy to be alive but feeling like something was wrong. It was then that she noticed she’d lost her arm in the accident. It took many months of rehab and therapy to return to work, but deep down she was still shaken to the core. All she could think of was tracking down this Miss Matrix, no matter the cost, and bringing her to justice. Luckily, Brook City felt the same and she was authorized to use any means necessary to get the job done. Her investigation prompted The Citadel, who also wanted Miss Matrix found, to lend a hand … in more ways than one. Using the same bionic/cybernetic technology they had developed to help Governor Max, they provided Renae with a new arm in exchange for her cooperation. She accepted with the condition that she’d get to aid in the design of the limb, in order to make it “more functional.”

She’s since been engaged in a tense game of cat and mouse with Miss Matrix, and it seems she might finally have tracked her nemesis down ...

Sunday is a day to relax, Global Gladiators, but you clearly will not rest until you've caused the Aftershock Stretch Goals Box to explode! We've added yet another goody to your treasure trove; let's take a look!

Spring Break

You've unlocked a new action-packed Stage: Spring Break!

Hanami is Japan's tradition of getting together with friends and family to look at flowers, and when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, you can expect some great festivals. Unfortunately, looks like some bad people want to crash this party, and the only way to keep them from destroying the scenic beauty of this park is to teach them some manners ... with your fists!

Detailing Add-ons (Part 3)

We've already covered most of the add-ons in previous updates (Part 1, Part 2), so let's take a look at what's left!

Street Masters Compendium

The gorgeous Street Masters Compendium is a deep dive into the Street Masters universe, being both a collection of amazing artwork from across the series as well as a comprehensive compilation of all the fighters, enemies, stages, and events that comprise it.

Lore and gameplay tips

Inside this lovely hardcover book you will find detailed backstories and descriptions of your favorite fighters, helping you understand their motivations, ambitions, and rivalries. You'll also discover strategy tips for their unique decks, allowing you to fully master their abilities, skills, and overall styles to maximize your gameplay experience.

Similarly, you'll learn the history of every enemy faction in the game, as well as the backgrounds of their individual members. If you've ever wanted to know how Dmitri formed The Brotherhood, or where Kemono came from, you'll get your answers here! Of course, just as with the fighters, gameplay tips to help defeat their decks will also be provided, allowing you to confront them with confidence!

You'll also discover the nature of each stage in the game, from the locations in which they take place to the events taking place within. Additionally, gameplay tips will be provided to help you navigate their unique hazards and how to use them to your advantage.

You'll get an overview of the timeline and geopolitical climate of the Street Masters universe, explaining the ongoing conflicts between organizations such as The Kingdom and The Citadel, or a closer look at the circumstances surrounding the Ransom City incident that led to the Aftershock.

Rules

In order to facilitate looking up rules on the fly, the compendium will also feature all the rules from Street Masters! This will be great for those moments where you don't want to dig through your board game collection to find the Street Masters box and open it up. Just grab the Compendium off your library shelf and browse through it!

Art Gallery

While the numerous lore/gameplay pages will feature tons of great artwork, there will also be a gallery section dedicated to showing off more of the amazing Street Masters artwork you've only been able to glimpse on small cards so far.

You'll be able to feast your eyes on pages upon pages of beautiful artwork spanning the entire Street Masters line, many of the selected pieces shown in their totality for the first time.

Page Count

Page count details are currently unavailable, as the size of the book is constantly in flux based on the performance of this campaign (as we said, the book will cover everything in the Street Masters Universe, including what's unlocked here), but we can say that we are currently well over 96 pages.

WIP Samples

Here are a few images to give you a better idea of the layout. Please keep in mind that everything here is WIP, therefore subject to change, including the placeholder text featured here (which is from our internal notes; final text will be professionally written).

Who knows, you might just draw them into a game of Street Masters too!

Neoprene Fighter Mat

If you want to play Street Masters in style, this is the add-on for you!

This gorgeous, 24" x 10" (approx.) neoprene play mat is what a true fighter uses to keep his play area organized and tidy. Featuring clearly defined areas to place your Fighter Deck, your Fighter Card, your Threat Area, your Play Area, and all the tokens you'll be manipulating, it's the best way to keep track of everything your fighter is doing! It's also the perfect tool for teaching Street Masters to newcomers, allowing them to fully grasp how their play area functions at a glance.

You'll also notice spots to make use of the Simultaneous Play variant, allowing for use of the tokens included in Aftershock, or a way to track steps using other means!

Hacking Their Way into Your Heart
over 5 years ago – Mon, Nov 19, 2018 at 10:42:38 AM

Global Gladiators, you keep punching your way through stretch goals at a frenetic pace! We love it! Can you believe we are now at 41 unlocked stretch goals (and counting)? This is such an exciting campaign, and it's all thanks to you and your incredible efforts in spreading the word. Let's keep it up!

Now, let's see what's new!

Onyx League Showdown Deck

Yet another amazing deck has been added to your Aftershock Stretch Goals Box: the Showdown Deck for the Onyx League!

Mack and his cronies, found in the Twin Tiger expansion (available as an add-on), will now gain a unique story and upgrade cards to lay down the hurt in new and terrifying ways!

As a reminder for our new backers, Showdown Decks are a new type of story deck that can be used in any Story Mode game, adding a villainous character working in the shadows against the fighters. Each Showdown Deck introduces a unique story for the associated enemy deck, as well as upgrade cards that will replace certain cards in said enemy deck. This means that as you and your fellow fighters try and complete the main Story, as well as any chosen Hero Stories, an enemy faction using its Showdown Deck will continually pop up, each time wielding an upgraded deck!

Players can also choose to include these enemy upgrade cards in their Arcade Mode games to increase overall difficulty and customize their games even further.

Pux

You've unlocked Pux, the guy who puts the "punk" in "cyberpunk"! He comes with a highly detailed miniature and a Rival/Ally card.

Head down to the Neon Strip, Ransom City’s entertainment district, and you’re sure to find a good time on any given night. You’re also sure to find Pux, either spinning a set in one of its many nightclubs, or raising hell and breaking the law in its streets. He says he's not a criminal, he just knows there’s way more fun to be had when you’re being bad. He realized this the night a beautiful young raver in his crowd gave him an invite to The Maw, an oft-rumored digital den of debauchery found in the dark recesses of cyberspace. He originally logged on out of curiosity, but soon became a regular when he discovered like-minded individuals who shared both his disdain for "the system" and his love for mixing the latest beats. His one-of-a-kind personality led to him being recruited and trained by the Cybertooth Crew, cyber-anarchists known to run jobs both online and in "RL" in order to "stick it to the man" ... and fund their high-tech lifestyle in the process.

He’s been the life of their party ever since, blasting his custom battle anthems on his boombox, or spinning digital hack tracks on the information superhighway.

Lola

Here comes a girl that will skate circles around you, boys: Lola! She comes with a highly detailed miniature, and a Rival/Ally card.

The Ransom City Jawbreakers lost an amazing jammer the night Lola decided roller derby wasn’t enough to give her the thrills she sought anymore. She enjoyed speed, mayhem, and money, and knew that she could use her skills to mix all three for the ultimate rush. She became an expert at holding up and robbing clubs, shops and tourists out on the Neon Strip, using the extra mobility her blades offered to easily outmaneuver anyone stupid enough to chase her. The adrenaline surge she felt every time was seemingly unbeatable, but when she received a mysterious invite to The Maw, she quickly realized there were bigger highs to be had out in cyberspace. It didn't take long for her and her newfound cyber-friends to realize she had a natural talent for hacking, and the Cybertooth Crew recruited her almost immediately. With their resources, she was easily able to infiltrate secure servers, steal valuable data, and escape before being caught.

To this day, the Crew still can’t agree if Lola is faster on her blades … or on her keyboard.

Social Stretch Goal Update

Only two social stretch goals left! With the clock ticking, we're going to need everyone's participation to share/click/subscribe to these and get the word out! Don't let the stories of these two remarkable fighters remain untold!
